National Centre for Communication Security: Notifications (Three Year Digital Subscription)

The National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) is a subordinate office under India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT). It is tasked with developing security standards and overseeing activities related to the security testing of telecommunications equipment. This includes recognizing telecom security testing laboratories and certifying telecom equipment to ensure they meet established security requirements.

Key Responsibilities of NCCS:

Development of Security Standards: NCCS formulates Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSARs), test procedures, and best practices. It also identifies security test tools and manages the Security Assurance Standards Facility (SASF).

Security Testing and Certification: The center is responsible for the implementation of the Communication Security Certification Scheme (ComSec), which mandates the security certification of all telecommunication equipment under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) framework.

Lab Recognition: NCCS recognizes and oversees telecom security testing laboratories to ensure they adhere to the required standards and procedures.

Capacity Building: Through initiatives like the NCCS Internship Scheme, the center engages young talent, allowing them to contribute to NCCS’s work and gain insights into telecom security.
